Happy Endings!

Pluto

Picture
Pluto came into the shelter as a terrified young stray in early March 2009.  He had taken shelter in a barn, and it was reported that he had been there since January. He was curled up in a tiny ball on top of some hay bales when the dog control officer and another person found him, terrified, very underweight and freezing cold.  Because he was so scared, it took both of them with a catch-pole and long lead to coax him out of the barn.

After he came to the shelter, it took a lot of gentle coaxing and love to help him want attention and leave his kennel.  By the end of March, Pluto had became more social, yet he still struggled with trusting new people. In June 2009, Pluto was succesfully adopted into a loving home.  At last report, he was doing great.  His new dad loves him very much and has worked with him patiently to teach him how to be a good boy.

Snow

Picture
No longer shy, Snow plays with her friend Biscuit.
Snow was surrendered to the SSPCA in January 2010 by her owner who used her for breeding and kept her caged around the clock.  She is a beautiful, pure bred German Shorthaired Pointer.  When she arrived, Snow was an extremely timid and frightened girl.  Because she was so painfully shy and unsocialized, she spent her days in the front office of the shelter with the staff.

Very gradually, she got used to people and some of the other dogs and cats that are always around.  She made fast friends with ‘Biscuit’ the small terrier mix that belongs to one of the staff members.  They played together as Snow began to come out of her shell.  In April, a terrific family stopped by the shelter and immediately fell in love with her.  She found her new home in the country, with a loving family, another dog as a pal and a cat who she mostly ignores.  She is happy playful and sleeps on her new dad’s bed at night.
